India hair and groundnut oil exports witness surprise surge
Over the past year, we've witnessed remarkable leaps in various export sectors, showcasing promising growth trajectories. Take, for instance, the export of unprocessed human hair, which skyrocketed from $34.5 million in 2018-19 (pre-Covid era) to nearly $180 million last year, marking a staggering increase of over five times, albeit from a smaller initial base.
Similarly, specific categories of copper wire, boasting a maximum cross-section diameter exceeding 6mm, saw an unprecedented surge in exports, catapulting from $76 million to a remarkable $867 million, signifying an eleven-fold rise. Groundnut oil exports, virtually non-existent in 2018-19, made a significant leap to $217 million last year, as per data compiled by the esteemed think tank GTRI. These statistics underscore the dynamic and evolving landscape of global trade, hinting at exciting opportunities for growth and expansion in various sectors.
